Once upon a time there was a snow man...

October/November Recap....and other Random Things

Our lives have been very busy the past few months:) First, school started, then everyone got sick, then something else happened, and so on and so on.
We had the Harvest Fellowship in October which a lot of fun. My camera miracously started working, but I let Serenity take the pictures so only one turned out. And that happened to be the one I took.
Also, we started a Teen Choir. Mr. Winsley is teaching it, and I think we're going to sing two songs.
As my mom said in the last post, we've started having home school field trips every month. This month we went to the PURE Center. The Putnam Underground Railroad Center. I didn't get any pictures, but it was a really cool place. Then we went to another place about Nelson T. Gant. He was a former slave who became a millionaire. (It was very interesting by the way. It's a non-profit organization, so they run solely on donations.)

We've had I think at least three birthdays while we were gone; maybe more or maybe less:) Autumn turned 17, Charity turned 2, Mercy turned 6. Timothy's birthday is next on Nov. 27 and he will be 12.

For school, we've been trying to do it, and we are succeeding.....sort of. Everyone got sick and then we had field trips and piano practice and choir practice and, well you get the idea. According to my calendar, we've been doing school for about 50 days give or take a few. That's not to bad considering we started in August. Right?

Well, anyway, we have been doing school because everyone I've talked to (mainly my sisters and brother) has a bunch of tests/papers/quizzes/other miscellaneous-projects-that-probably-were-due-a-chapter-ago type of things. As of right now, I have a cumulative test in Grammar, a quiz in History, a test in Bible, and I might have something in Spanish. And that's not counting the, just a sec, let me count, 39 papers. yes I did mean 39. Actually, its not really all that bad because 30 of those papers are just journal entries for Literature that are not due till January. But I'm not complaining because I love to write!
Right now, all I really want to do about school is skip ahead to Chemistry. I really love Biology, but two particular people (ahem Autumn and Bethany) keep complaining how hard it is. And, frankly, for lack of a better word, I don't believe them! Really! (I can just see comments flying in from people who hate Chemistry.....) And, as Bethany and I were arguing. (Not really) it really is important to know which elements turn to gases/liquids/solids at which temperature or else they wouldn't teach us it......right? Right. But Autumn and Charis think differently..........

To clear up any confusion on this lovely picture, I must note that this is not true. And for those of you who think that Um actually stands for Uranium, you are incorrect. Uranium's atomic symbol is U. The atomic symbol Um does not exist. (You can tell this because that little number in the top right hand corner, which actually belongs in the top left hand corner, is 84. That is called the atomic number. The element for that number is Polonium or Po.) And if anyone is inclined to be contentious, they can go to Wikipedia, or look it up in the dictionary or whatever. That's what I did. (To be technical, I looked it up in Switched On Schoolhouse on the Periodic Table and dictionary:))
