It's time for the latest Awkward and Awesome!!! I love writing these.

Picture
Charity's picnic (pronounced how Yogi Bear says it;))

Awkward:

  • The way your eyes open up really wide in the dark.
  • At least three people in my family including me agree that Pepsi tastes like spit. It really does; try it!
  • My sister is convinced that soup tastes different when you drink it out a cup.
  • After the Winter Retreat, I left my pillow, coat, boots, and iPod in the van we drove up to camp in. I lose things a lot....
  • You know that little trick of folding your arms while talking to someone to find out if someone else is watching you because they will fold their arms too? It works.
  • The fact that I could be going to college next year. (And by next year I mean 2016, not this fall)
  • Typing with one hand.
Picture
My impersonation of flying;)
  • Wearing flip flops and short sleeves when it's 33* outside. It was perfectly fine until the mud had to go and thaw. Have you ever walked in mud with flip flops on? And by mud I don't mean little mud puddles; I mean thick dirt with water and gravel mixed in. My shoes probably had a couple of inches of mud on them;)
  • Crawling around on the basement floor rapping on all the tiles to see which ones are hollow.
  • Did you know that when you're in a "real" school in a "real" classroom with a "real" whiteboard and you sit in the third row without glasses, you can't see the board? I guess ya learn something new everyday!:)
  • When the internet is so slow that the music you're listening to stops every three seconds...sort of sounds like this: Gr--a---a---ant---tha--a-t--we--e---li--i--ke--Th-e--ee--ma-a-y--be---
  • When you write a word so many times you can't remember if that's really how it should be spelled. Take the word "who" for instance; who who who who who. See? It doesn't even look like a word anymore.
  • I accidentally took my Chemistry test two days before I was supposed too. On the day I took the test, I was supposed to take a quiz.

Awesome:

  • My 3-year-old sister's (Charity) imagination. She has an imaginary friend whose name is Hinda. Hinda is 4 years old and about 2 inches taller than Charity. They met each other at "The Show" (not exactly sure what\where that is). Hinda is in college - not Josh's college, but Autumn's, according to Charity - and lives in a blue house with orange couches and black pillows. Charity also has this thing about tea....and super powers. No idea where she got that last one:) She also loves talking to me in the laundry room from the laundry chute upstairs. I'm training her to do the laundry when she gets older. She already knows how to turn the washer and the dryer on and empty the dust thingy in the dryer (did you know that those dust vents are the cause of most apartment fires because they rarely get emptied? Just some random fact my brain knew;)
  • My mom who finished folding all 7 loads of laundry last week. I had sort of gotten behind with school and everything:)
  • My dad who bought me Hot Fries. (which are amazing)
  • I'm almost finished with Grammar, Literature, and Bible, so in about a month I'll only have three classes left!!!!!!!!! Homeschooling is awesome.
Picture
These are the hay bales across the street....I hope whoever owns them doesn't mind...:)
  • Sweet tea
  • Our home school Teen Choir!
  • 2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
  • Amarisa's blowing raspberries:)
  • Home made pizza
  • I finished reading the Bible in 90 days!! I did the plan on YouVersion and finished on the 16th. You basically read 12 pages a day which is a LOT, but it was really good too:)
  • A HEATER.  Do you know how cold it gets in a basement in Ohio? There was ice on the inside of the door. But we're good now:)

Happy Saturday!!

Our Life

I'm supposed to be doing school right now, but if I don't write this right now, I'll never do it:) Instead of the A & A post, I'm just going to write about our life.
Usually on school days we have family devotions at 7:30am and then start school around 8. On Mondays and Wednesdays, my two older sisters and I take College Algebra at Zane State. On Tuesdays, Autumn, Melody, Timothy, and Serenity take piano lessons. Also on Wednesday the boys have speech therapy.
Picture
Amarisa; she's so tiny! The dress she has on is the smallest the store had, new born, and it's a little big.
This Wednesday Autumn and I were talking to a lady in the therapy center place. She had had surgery on her shoulder. We didn't have a chance to invite her to church personally because the therapist called her back, so Autumn wrote her a letter and gave it to the receptionist. We invited her to our Ladies' Group and the services...so pray that she and her husband come!!
Our family has had the flu that has been going around. Also known as the Plague. I think I was the first one to get it and it sort of felt like I had vertigo. Not that I've ever had vertigo, but what I imagine it to be.

Well, I wish I could find a few random pictures, but I can't. I shall remember to take some next week! Got to go finish my Algebra homework!! Happy Saturday:)

Only Awesome

Today I'm supposed to write an Awkward and Awesome post, but really, its just been awesome!

Autumn, Melody, Timothy, and I were given the opportunity to go to
Wildwood Christian Retreat for their Winter Teen Retreat. We were all totally broke and were jokingly saying that we couldn't go to camp unless God gave an envelope with the exact amount of money to go and a ride to get there.

Let me just say, God works miracles!!! Some really good friends of ours graciously paid for all four of us to go. Not only that, but they had enough room to take us along with their youth group! So yeah, we had an amazing time!

We had an awesome trip up or over or where ever we went. We played a lot of fun games.

The very first game we played was when everyone had to take our shoe/sock off and run across the field, around a tree, and back again. It was just a little cold.

We also played a game where you spit bb's through a straw into a bucket (I think Bulls won that!!!!!).

Another really fun game was the banana game where you had to shuuush down the chairs (we really only had to scoot down the line, but it's cooler to say shuush down them). After the first time we did it, Mr. Aaron smashed the bananas on the cement floor. And then we had to do it all over again with them.

All that above was just the first three hours. We also sent up lanterns (the ones you light on fire and they float away) Except my lantern sort of caught on fire and never did go up. But the other team almost set the forest on fire so it was all good.

Picture
Not the best picture in the world, but these are the mountains you can see behind the main building. And you better not go any further or else you'd fall over the edge of the cliff!
Picture
From left to right: Carissa, Autumn, Emily, Melody, Caitlyn, and Bethany. If you can't tell, we're all very cold:)

We also played two types of dodge ball (one inside, the other outside), floor hockey, a pillow fight, round robin, and my absolute favorite, spoke tackle.

The reason I like it do well is in spoke tackle you can body check, take down, clothesline, tackle, trip, push, shove, flag tackle, slide tackle, arm drag, hip toss, anything goes!! (Except for hair pulling or bone breaking)

We also went on a 4 1/2 mile hike. In the woods. And the thorns. And did I mention the thorns? It was actually better than the hike during the summer though because it wasn't nearly as hot. I think we hit every single thorn patch in the woods too.

Mr Glenn preached (we had five chapel services in the 1 1/2 days we were there).

There were a lot of great messages, but my favorite was the last one in John 15:5 where it talks about the vine and the branches and that without God, we can do nothing. And that includes keep the decisions we made at camp.

It didn't actually get cold until the day we left. On that day, it snowed and it was freezing!! Not as cold as last year though, thankfully.

We are so thankful that God allowed all of us to go!

Happy Saturday!
