Joshua De Leon is burdened for the young people of his generation. Support him as he counsels at Camp Joy in the summer of 2016.
Who Am I?
My name is Joshua De Leon and I am twenty-one years old. I am from New Concord, Ohio where my father, Michael De Leon, Pastors Lighthouse Baptist Church. He and my mother, Cassandra, are the parents of ten children, I being the eldest. I am currently a junior at Baptist College of Ministry and majoring in Bible with a Pastoral Minor.
What Am I Doing?
This summer I have the opportunity of serving at Camp Joy. Camp Joy is located in southern Wisconsin and operates year-round as a youth camp and conference center. Every summer, hundreds of young people have their hearts challenged and lives changed as a result of this ministry. The first couple weeks in June will be training and followed by the rest of the summer putting my training into practice.
I am privileged to be on the front lines as a counselor. Each week, I will encounter a new group of young men, eager to have fun and full of potential to change the world for Christ. I consider it great responsibility to pray for them and to have a part in discipling them for a week. My burden is for each of them to surrender to whatever God would have for their life.
How Can You Help?
Because this summer will be crucial for my life as well as the lives of the families and young people reached, I am writing to ask for your support in two ways.
First, for your prayer support. Would you pray that I would show Jesus to those around me? As well as counseling, I will be team captain for one of the teams. Pray that the Lord would give me wisdom to apply truths to the campers throughout the day, that I would have a healthy summer, and that I will constantly have my reliance on the Lord for strength and endurance. Pray as well that I would grow spiritually through the preaching and teaching as I learn how to lead and teach others.
Secondly, I ask for your sponsorship.* As I already stated, I am a junior at Baptist College of Ministry in Menomonee Falls, WI., and I am assured that it is God’s will for me to return in the fall. Because Camp Joy is a ministry, I will not be paid anything this summer. I have prayed long and am convinced I am in the center of God’s will concerning my ministry this summer and my return to college. I ask that you would consider entreating the Lord if He would have you sponsor me this summer to put toward my college education. I will not take the sacrifice of God’s people for granted. My church, Lighthouse Baptist Church in New Concord, OH will receive any funds and directly send them to Baptist College of Ministry.
Thank You! Colossians 1:9-11 “For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness.”
