She was on her knees...
Next to my daughter's hospital bed... Praying. It was 3 in the morning and I stood completely overwhelmed by God's Sovereign love. It was as if God had come down and physically put His arms around me in that sterile cold room and hugged me, shining His warmth through the room. I glanced at her right hand now bandaged. I still hadn't seen the damage. But I'd been told that she had lost some fingers...maybe saved her thumb. Lost her fingers... My fault... My eyes turned again to the bent head bowed in prayer... Our nurse. The Christian one now bending her head in humble prayer on our behalf. The same nurse that 2 years earlier was with us as she had her 3rd surgery. The emotions of that year, the feeling of no control, the fear, the love, the triumph... How I needed that little comfort from God. His way of giving strength when my spirit was crushed and overwhelmed. Not 12 hours before I had been driving our 15 passenger van loaded with all 8 children 13 years to 13 months. Driving down that country road headed toward a friend who would take some children for a few days so I could be with my sister who had just had a baby. A baby who might not live long. A sister that I wanted desperately to pray with and give comfort. Now I needed that comfort. She was sleeping, a medical sleep that eased the suffering for a time. My thoughts continued. The music had been playing in the van: "In My Weakness He Is Strong" "In my weakness He is strong; In my need He leads me on. When I come to the end of all I am, And I place my trust in Him; That’s when His strength begins In my weakness." In my weakness... Then... Off the road, the screaming, the crunch of a pole, the rolling of the van, the silence, the crying, the desperate counting of children, the jaws of life, the whimper of pain...the ride to the hospital, the surgery... That nurse... What a wonderful God we serve to bring us a willing vessel... To encourage and pray when my own prayers were just tears. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.” Cassandra

Happy Saturday and stay warm!!! It's time for the latest Awkward and Awesome!!! I love writing these. Awkward:
Awesome:
Happy Saturday!! I'm supposed to be doing school right now, but if I don't write this right now, I'll never do it:) Instead of the A & A post, I'm just going to write about our life. Usually on school days we have family devotions at 7:30am and then start school around 8. On Mondays and Wednesdays, my two older sisters and I take College Algebra at Zane State. On Tuesdays, Autumn, Melody, Timothy, and Serenity take piano lessons. Also on Wednesday the boys have speech therapy. This Wednesday Autumn and I were talking to a lady in the therapy center place. She had had surgery on her shoulder. We didn't have a chance to invite her to church personally because the therapist called her back, so Autumn wrote her a letter and gave it to the receptionist. We invited her to our Ladies' Group and the services...so pray that she and her husband come!! Our family has had the flu that has been going around. Also known as the Plague. I think I was the first one to get it and it sort of felt like I had vertigo. Not that I've ever had vertigo, but what I imagine it to be. Well, I wish I could find a few random pictures, but I can't. I shall remember to take some next week! Got to go finish my Algebra homework!! Happy Saturday:)
CarissaFaith:) Today I'm supposed to write an Awkward and Awesome post, but really, its just been awesome! Let me just say, God works miracles!!! Some really good friends of ours graciously paid for all four of us to go. Not only that, but they had enough room to take us along with their youth group! So yeah, we had an amazing time! The very first game we played was when everyone had to take our shoe/sock off and run across the field, around a tree, and back again. It was just a little cold. We also played a game where you spit bb's through a straw into a bucket (I think Bulls won that!!!!!). Another really fun game was the banana game where you had to shuuush down the chairs (we really only had to scoot down the line, but it's cooler to say shuush down them). After the first time we did it, Mr. Aaron smashed the bananas on the cement floor. And then we had to do it all over again with them. We also played two types of dodge ball (one inside, the other outside), floor hockey, a pillow fight, round robin, and my absolute favorite, spoke tackle. The reason I like it do well is in spoke tackle you can body check, take down, clothesline, tackle, trip, push, shove, flag tackle, slide tackle, arm drag, hip toss, anything goes!! (Except for hair pulling or bone breaking) Mr Glenn preached (we had five chapel services in the 1 1/2 days we were there). There were a lot of great messages, but my favorite was the last one in John 15:5 where it talks about the vine and the branches and that without God, we can do nothing. And that includes keep the decisions we made at camp. We are so thankful that God allowed all of us to go!
Happy Saturday! CarissaFaith:) Just popped in to say Happy New Year's (a day late)!! I'm so thankful for everything God has done for our family this past year. Especially because we got to go to camp!!!! Autumn, Melody, Timothy, and I were able to go to Wildwood Christian Winter Teen Retreat. We had the most amazing time (and are a little sore;)) Anyway, more on that later! Happy New Years again!! MERRRRYYYY CHRISTMAAAS!!!!!!!!!!!!
And now for the AWESOME
HAPPY SATURDAY!!!! I love Saturdays because, even though we still have school, the next day is Sunday:)
So, today we went Christmas shopping. Because we have such a big family, we draw names out of a hat and that's the only person you have to get a gift for. But giving gifts is the best part so usually the little kids like to get everyone a gift:) We also got a Christmas tree!! Definitely an answer to prayer. We sort of accidentally cut it down short, so it's kinda small....We may or may not have talked about super gluing the rest of the trunk onto it ;) Awkward: (Autumn here, I just wanna insert something: In my opinion these post could also be titled "Carissa's Blond Moments", or "The Many Blond Moments of sis", ok, that's all! :) And just so everyone knows that our life isn't Pinterest-perfect, most of these things happened today;)
CarissaFaith:) I saw someone do this in a blog I have been reading, so I am going to try it out!
Ok, so excuse the capitals. I love Christmas. And Thanksgiving. And the Fourth of July. And the month of July in general. Aaaaand that doesn't make any sense.
Try is the key word right there;) Happy Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!
We changed the name so sorry if you couldn't find it:) We only have 12 followers and we're trying to get, well....more. And my sister just said 20, because its a good goal number apparently.
